Dental Exams

Her exams includes assessing your teeth, gums, and mouth and spending time helping you better understand your health and how to improve.

Types of Dental Exams:

Initial Oral Examination:

This is a thorough exam for new patients that includes a review of dental and medical history, a full set of x-rays, and a comprehensive evaluation of oral health

Routine Check-Up:

Typically done every 6 months, this exam includes a visual inspection of the teeth and gums, a professional cleaning, and sometimes x-rays to detect any changes or issues since the last visit

Conducted when a patient experiences acute pain, trauma, or other urgent dental issues. It focuses on identifying and treating the immediate problem

Periodic Oral Exam:

A follow-up exam for existing patients to monitor ongoing issues or treatments. It may include x-rays or other diagnostic procedures as needed

Cleanings

Dr. Sanders spends time ensuring your mouth is clean to prevent further disease and damage.

Dental cleanings are essential procedures in oral healthcare that involve the removal of plaque and tartar from teeth to prevent dental diseases.

Types of Dental Cleanings:

Prophylaxis Cleaning:

This routine cleaning removes plaque and tartar above the gum line and is recommended twice a year for maintaining oral health

Scaling and Root Planing:

A deep cleaning method for patients with gum disease, it involves cleaning below the gum line and smoothing the tooth roots to prevent bacteria buildup

Periodontal Maintenance Cleaning:

For patients who have been treated for periodontal disease, this ongoing cleaning helps manage the condition and prevent recurrence

Full Mouth Debridement:

If tartar has built up significantly, this intensive cleaning is necessary to clear the surfaces and allow for proper dental examination

Dr. Sanders is an expert in restorative dentistry.

Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing or replacing teeth to improve oral health and restore chewing function. It encompasses various dental procedures that address damage, decay, and missing teeth.

Fillings:

Dentists remove the decayed portion of the tooth and fill the cavity with a tooth-colored composite material

Benefits: Less invasive, cost-effective, and time-saving.

Crowns:

Tooth-colored or metal restorations that cover the entire tooth.

Used to repair large cavities, restore broken teeth, or protect weakened teeth.

Crowns restore the tooth’s normal size, shape, and function

Bridges:

Fixed prosthetic devices that replace missing teeth.

Bridges consist of artificial teeth (pontics) anchored to adjacent natural teeth or implants

Dentures:

Removable appliances to replace multiple missing teeth.

Full dentures replace all teeth, while partial dentures replace some missing teeth
